Robotex history

 

Robotex International is the greatest robotics competition on the Planet that for the first time was held in 2001 at Taltech Assembly Hall. Over the years, competitions have been held in various fields: line following, labyrinth passing, volleyball, rope climbing, room cleaning, football, sea rescue mission, and other tasks. The competition has had participants from several high schools and universities, companies, and also from abroad.

In 2008, the event moved to the premises of Taltech Sports Hall, where larger area and better conditions were ensured. In addition to competitions, various expositions, exhibitions, and
workshops for young people took place.

Since 2010, the event is held several days, enabling to organise competitions with different degree of difficulty and bring all robotics, science and engineering enthusiasts together.

Since 2008, Technology exhibition has also taken place under the event of Robotex. Several well-known companies and organisations on a global scale have cooperated to make it happen.

In 2015 Robotex gained the unofficial title of being the biggest robotics competition in Europe.

Mission and vision of Robotex

 

Mission – to increase interest in engineering and science among children and young people and be the number one pioneer in guiding them to study engineering specialties.

Vision – to organize high-quality robotics competitions and technology event for families.

Robotex is Estonian-based organization whose aim is to organize Robotex International – an annual Robotics festival that brings together thousands of engineers, executives, students and families to be inspired by technology industry leaders, examine new start-ups, build robots for various challenges and learn about the latest technology innovations.

By 2020 Robotex has pre-competitions in 8 different countries from all over the world (Finland, Greece, China, India, Cyprus, Armenia, Turkey and South Korea).

2115 competitors, 49 countries, 20 competitions, 34 workshops, 29 exhibitors and over 10000 festival visitors.

Robotex International 2018 at Estonian Fair Centre

2406 competitors, 978 robots, 80 workshops, 46 exhibitors, 44 countries

Two-days Robotex International Conference was held in Tallinn Creative Hub.

Conference had 80 speakers from 23 countries and 942 visitors.

Robotex International 2017 was held for the first time at Estonian Fair Centre

27 competitions, 3052 competitors, 1332 robots, 35 workshops , 42 exhibitors, 26 countries, 10000 visitors

Robotex 2016 was held at TalTech Sports Hall

There were 23 different competitions, 912 robots /teams form 20 countries and 16000 visitors

For the first time conference was held as a side event

With the marking of the 100th anniversary of Estonia, Robotex distributed 100 robots for schools to take part in the robot competition

1422 competitors, 657 robots, 17 competitions, 15 countries, 14000 visitors

Robotex with its number of robots gained the unofficial title of being the biggest robotics competition in Europe over RobotChallenge competition held in Vienna

835 competitors, 12 competitions, 361 robots, 11 000 visitors
